Joy maintains strong relationships with music publishers, libraries, and masters (labels); has searched for pre-recorded and stock music using specific, project-directed criteria such as mood, theme, keyword, artist, and era; identified songs for client consideration; queried music availability and cost; and identified, negotiated, and licensed music from publishers and master holders for use in every media including the Internet.

WJOY is often called upon to perform music research for attorneys and has acted as expert witness and advisor in music use disputes.
